The first step to becoming a carer is to contact us, either by calling our office on Tel: 02920811442 or filling in the web enquiry form on the contact us page. We can then tell you a little more about fostering with Foster Care Group Wales and answer any initial questions you may have.
The application and assessment process gives you the accurate information you need on what fostering will involve and gives you a chance to consider how fostering will affect your life – as well as your family and friends. Once approved as a foster carer, we can also use information gathered during the assessment process to match you with suitable children or young people to foster.
We will support you throughout the process, and simply ask in return that you are as open and honest as possible and give answers that you believe in…rather than answers you think are ‘correct’. Be yourself, raise any concerns as quickly as possible and always ask if there’s anything that you don’t understand or would like more information about.
Do you think that you have the ability and desire to be a carer and can use your experience in a demanding role or do you have a friend or family member who has discussed fostering? If so, please do not hesitate to call us for information and an informal chat with no obligation. We are here to answer any queries you may have regarding fostering, however big or small.
